A USCIS medical exam is a required health evaluation for individuals applying for a U.S. green card or certain immigration benefits. Conducted by a USCIS-designated civil surgeon, the exam ensures applicants meet public health requirements and are free from communicable diseases that could pose a threat. It includes a physical examination, vaccination review, tuberculosis (TB) testing, and screening for other medical conditions. The results are recorded on Form I-693, which must be submitted to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) as part of the immigration application. Completing this exam is a crucial step in the immigration process.
A DOT Physical is a medical exam required by the Department of Transportation (DOT) to ensure commercial drivers are physically and mentally fit to operate a commercial vehicle. It includes a review of medical history, vision and hearing tests, blood pressure measurement, and a general physical examination. The goal is to detect any conditions that could impair a driver’s ability to safely perform their job. A certified medical examiner conducts the exam, and passing it results in a Medical Examiner’s Certificate (MEC), valid for up to 24 months. Some health conditions may require more frequent evaluations to maintain certification.

Allergies are conditions caused by hypersensitivity of the immune system to typically harmless substances in the environment. Common allergens include pollen and certain food. Identifying the causal allergen is an important step in taking control of allergies, allowing individuals to reduce exposure to the substances that trigger symptoms. We perform prick tests. After approximately 20 minutes, the skin is observed for any signs of reaction to one or several of the allergens: redness, swelling, itching.
Allergen Immunotherapy (AIT), also known as desensitization, is an allergy treatment designed to treat the underlying cause. It induces tolerance to allergens by rebalancing the immune system. The treatment consists of gradually exposing the patient to increasing amounts of the triggering allergens over time followed by a maintenance phase until the immune system naturally builds tolerance to that allergen. Adequately rebalancing your immune system with AIT usually requires 3 to 5 years (or seasons, in the case of pollen allergies) of treatment. AIT provides a fast onset of action (within a few weeks) and long-lasting improvement of all allergy symptoms. This is in contrast to the usual symptomatic medications that are prescribed, such as antihistamines and corticosteroids, which only temporarily relieve some of your allergy symptoms.
